Curriculum

This term has been very busy for our Year 5’s! It started by exploring our story writing skills. This was through a movie called ‘Delivery’ which we interpreted and wrote our own version. The film began the inspiration for our Survivors topic. In this we thought about what it meant to survive and where in the world people have to survive which linked in with our geography theme, environments.
Year 5 have worked hard learning about what it would be like to live in Antarctica, the Jungle and the Desert. Working together, they have written non-chronological reports, stories, poetry and even had the opportunity to have a debate with their class mates on ‘Saving the Environment’.
Although there has been lots of hard work, the Year 5’s have also had lots of fun on the field (now the snow has gone) and focusing on creative work through Art, Music and Cooking.
Some of the Year 5’s had the opportunity to go to Manor Adventure, on return they were bubbling with stories to tell! Meanwhile the rest of the Year 5’s enjoyed learning about survival by going to Broxtowe Park.
Although we have been busy, the Year 5’s have been extremely busy. It is now important they practise key skills through homework each week in preparation for the optional SATS tests in the Summer term.
Well done Year 5!
