Below is a table showing what the children in Year 5 and Year 6 will be learning during the Summer Term. Their topic this half term is Africa. If you have any information or experiences to share based on this topic, please speak to your child's class teacher.


Year 5 and 6 theme - Africa

English 

Persuasive writing, poetry, write a letter to Gambia.
Mathematics Number and Calculation skills, shape, measures and data handling.
Science Earth, Sun and Moon. Forces.
Design & Technology Study and produce African art work.
I.C.T. Multi-media presentations and the Internet. Photostory and sound recording.
Geography Locate places in Africa and learn about life in the cities and the country.
Religious Education Muslim beliefs and practise.
Art & Design Study and produce African art work.
Music African drumming.
Physical Education Net, field and wall games. Football skills (Nottingham County FC coaches). Swimming.

Citizenship/SRE              PSHE / SEAL

 SEALs: Changes.

Useful things to bring in:  Any Africa research, books or artefacts.
