Trips

This year, we went to Manor Adventure in Shropshire. It was 3 days of adventurous activities and team building. All the children had a go at activities which took them out of their comfort zone. We had a go at kayaking and canoeing, abseiling, rifle shooting and archery amongst others. Manor Adventure was brilliant and the children thoroughly enjoyed their trip.

We will be aiming to go to Manor Adventure again next year... so watch out for details if you are currently in Year 4 and you can face the challenge!

Other Enrichment Activities:
DARE
Year 5 children have been busy completing their DARE course, which finished with a graduation on 30th March 2011. The children learnt about making the right choice as they grow up. They were taught about harmful drugs and alcohol and ways to deal with peer pressure.

Broxtowe Country Park

Year 5 and 6 children visited Broxtowe Country Park to work with the Nottingham City Park Rangers. They were collecting sticks to make a fire in a firepit, which they then toasted delicious marshmallows on. The children were learning about how to survive and so the park rangers explained carefully how to make and start a fire and most importantly, how to be careful around the fire. Toasting marshmallows was the highlight of the trip.

The children had to navigate their way to the park entrance following maps. The teachers let the children lead the way!

COMING UP IN SUMMER TERM
Notts County are coming to school to do some football training skills with the Year 5 children.
Everyone will take their SATs or optional SATs after the Easter holidays. They have worked hard all year so we wish them Good Luck!
Phase 4 teachers are planning a special end of year trip for the whole phase... more details to follow soon!
Our Summer topic is called ‘Back to the Future’. We will be studying the past 60 years and looking at music, fashion, food and changes to the world. If you can recall what life was like in the 1960s, 70s or 80s and would like to come in and speak to the children, let one of the teachers know.
