School Profile
What have we done in response to Ofsted?
Key Issues that rose at the last inspection for Ambleside Primary school were:
- Improve the quality of teaching so that it is consistently at least good in order to enable pupils to achieve well and hence raise standards, particularly by the end of Year 6.
- Develop the whole-school curriculum so that it maintains its current focus on developing core skills, whilst also widening pupils’ experiences and developing their thinking and independent learning skills.
- Enhance the role of the subject leaders in evaluating the performance in their subjects and the governors in monitoring the work of the whole school.
In response to this, actions have been written into the 'Whole School Improvement Plans' for both last academic year and this current year 2008/2009.
Results at Key Stage Two are higher than the previous year.
A new Whole School Curriculum has been developed and is being implemented from September 2008.
Subject Leaders have far more accountability. Each Leader was responsible for the development of their subject area to be broad and balanced in the new curriculum. Assessment opportunities have been woven in at the beginning and end of each unit.
