School Profile

How do we ensure we are meeting the learning needs of individual pupils?

The school has the following approach to personalised learning and how it provides for children of all abilities and in all circumstances, including children with SEN, gifted and talented children, minority ethnic children and children performing below the expected level for their age:

It is now customary for all children to be given age related curricular targets in the form of toolkits for each National Curriculum level for reading, writing and mathematics.

  • The school has maintained its standing as an extremely inclusive school. Children with a wide range of needs are fully integrated into the life and education at Ambleside Primary school.
  • Many of our support staff have been trained to deliver a range of intervention strategies to support progress in literacy, numeracy and Special Educational needs. Gifted and able children have been identified and differentiated challenging work is offered at a level appropriate to their needs.
  • The pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good which results in the pupils being happy at school. Peers are especially good at accepting and looking after individuals.
  • Performance management is in place. School staff have the target of 75% of children to reach expected standards.
  • We have well integrated different teams of staff within our large school, who all consistently work well together and for the good of the children, offering a range of different support strategies.
  • The number of after school clubs and opportunities continues to increase.
