How do we make sure our pupils are healthy, safe and well-supported?

  • The school has a healthy tuck shop selling fruit and healthy snacks at morning break to KS2 children.
  • KS1 children have fruit every day and milk is available.
  • A salad bar is available for children who have school dinners which have proved to be very popular.
  • At Open Evening parents were given the opportunity to sample healthy school meals and packed lunches.
  • Water is available in classrooms within the school.
  • In Key Stages 1 and 2 at least two hours are spent in PE activities.
  • The school has links with the Comprehensive school for extra curricular sports programmes. As many of the children are not swimmers, swimming lessons have been extended to children from the age of 7.
  • Opportunities to encourage healthy lifestyles is woven into the curriculum.
  • All children visit the Life Education Centre which comes to the school once a year to inform the children about making healthy life choices.
  • Year 5 children take part in the DARE programme taught by the police.
  • As part of our campaign to keep our children safe. There is no access to the school playgrounds after 8:50 am, when the gates are locked.
  • School has a Cycling Club for Year 6 pupils after school, to improve their safety and teach them the principles of cycling on the road.
