Class Council Agendas

These are sent to every class every 1/2 term to discuss and also include a summary of previous actions taken so our children are aware of what is going on and what has been done since the last Whole School Council meeting.

Class Council Agenda Week Beginning 21st September 2009

Class Council Agenda

Mrs Hannon conducted a survey last term and a few issues came up that the School Council would like you to discuss.

  • 28% of pupils thought that they were not allowed to go to the toilet when they wanted to. Is this a problem in your class? Why is it a problem, are children not going when they should eg playtimes etc?
  • The toilets also seemed to be causing problems at lunchtimes and playtimes. Pupils have said that it is a trouble spot for messing about. What can we do about this?
  • What else can we do to encourage good behaviour?

Class Council Agenda Week Beginning 20th April 2009

Can you please read these issues out to your class at the beginning of your class council.

  1. Mrs Hannon is going to discuss these issues that you have brought up with relevant members of staff to get them sorted out:

    • Phase 4 missing out on many options at lunchtime as last in.
    • More water fountains inside and possibility of having some outside?
    • Football – girls can only play on a Friday, younger children running onto pitch.
    • Children wanted more clubs e.g. street dancing, Spanish, science, clubs on a Saturday?
  1. Toys – some children in class 13 not allowing children in class 5 to play or book out.                                        Action: Miss Hunt is going to speak to Midday Supervisors about this issue.

  2. Not enough soap in the toilets.                                                                                                                         Action: Miss Hunt has seen Site Managers about this issue and it has been addressed.

  3. The Whole School Council has also been involved with the running of the Extreme Reading Photo Competition!

  • What did you enjoy the most about school last term?
  • What did you enjoy learning about in your class?
  • What did you find difficult? Why?
  • How do you learn best? By reading about something? Listening to somebody tell you? Finding out and researching for yourself?
  • What makes it easier for you to learn? What makes something more difficult to learn?
  • What could your teacher and your class do to make learning certain things easier for you?

Class Council Agenda Week Beginning 12th January 2009

Is our school a healthy school? What do we do at Ambleside that promotes good health and making healthy choices?

These questions might help you come up with some ideas.

  • Do you think our school dinners/ packed lunches are healthy? Why?
  • Do you get a lot of excerise at school? When? What about at home?
  • What activities do we do at school to help us keep fit and healthy, what do you enjoy?
  • What else could we do?

Class Council Agenda Week Beginning 10th November 2008

Can you please read these issues out to your class at the beginning of your class council.

  1. Many children felt that they were not getting enough immediate rewards in the classrooms, such as stickers.

Action: Georgia and Kaylem have ordered new stickers for each class.

  1. Upper school felt like they were not getting the allocated time for Golden Time because people are late into assembly and packing away early. Also the toys for Golden time were getting old and a bit boring.

Action: Kallie and Toni-Ann are timing assemblies to see how long they are realistically taking. Mrs Hannon has said we may be able to re-work the assembly timetable on a Friday afternoon.

Action: Cora and Clinton are ordering new toys for Golden time.

Class Council Agenda
