Diwali Week

In autumn, Phase 3 celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali – The Festival of Lights.  The children learnt traditional Hindu dance, listened to accounts of Diwali from a Hindu visitor and enjoyed experiencing Indian dress and tasting Indian sweets.  We thoroughly enjoyed our Diwali week. We showcased our work across the phase in an assembly.

Thank you to all those parents who came to watch us and thank you to all our visitors who helped!

Look at our work on Diwali to see how we extended our knowledge of Diwali and our understanding of how Hindus live and celebrate their festivals in England today.

Traditional Indian dress

Mrs Kureshi came into visit and help
us make our own Diwa lamps out of clay.
Thank you!

The Stick Dance

A puja tray used for worship.

We made our own Diwali cards.

The Diwali Story of Rama and Sita

We like visitors to share their experiences
with us - it brings our learning to life!

We drew our own Rangoli patterns
using shapes and symmetry.

We researched about the different Hindu gods.
