Welcome to Phase 2 (Years 1 and 2)
The Phase 2 teachers are:
Class 1 - Miss Brown
Class 2 - Miss Arnold
Class 3 - Mrs Smith/Mrs Bewick (Phase leaders)
Class 4 - Mr Whale
Class 5 - Miss Smith
Start and End of the School Day
The school day starts at 8:40. At this time the Phase 2 class teachers will open the doors and children can begin to make their way in to class.
At the end of the school day the children in Phase 2 leave the building by their nearest exit. Children in Phase 2 must be collected by an appropriate adult, either by a parent or guardian, or named adult who must be over 16.
Target Grouping
We currently do not target group in Phase 2. As from Christmas children in Year 2 will be in one of 4 Literacy, and 4 Mathematics Target groups during the mornings and then back with their class during the afternoons.
The work your child will be learning in the Target Groups will be carefully matched to their abilities in each of the two areas, with the emphasis always being on fostering positive enthusiasm and striving to succeed.
P.E
The children in Phase 2 will need to have their P.E kit for their lesson with the sports development team on the following days:
Class 1 - Thursdays
Class 2 - Wednesdays
Class 3 - Wednesdays
Class 4 – Tuesdays
Class 5 – Tuesdays
Reading
Each child in Phase 2 should have a Book bag. These are available to buy from the office. They will be provided with a book from school and a reading diary. All three items need to be in school every day. The reading diaries are checked on a regular basis.
We would stress that it is usually those children who have read regularly at home that make the most progress at school.
