Spring term in Foundation has been incredibly busy. We have covered two topics called “Water” and “Dinosaurs.” As part of our water topic we were visited by Professor Pop Up who performed a show called “Amazing Mr Noah.” All of the children enjoyed the show very much. We also saved our pennies in order to raise money for Water Aid. Thank you to all for your generosity. Reception children visited the library and were all able to take a book to share with friends and family.

Our Dinosaur topic saw the Reception children going out on our first trip this year. The children visited the Charnwood Museum in Loughborough. There they were able to be Dinosaur Detectives and investigate real dinosaur bones. Nursery made a life size dinosaur footprint in the playground. It is big enough for all of the children to fit inside!

Another priority this term has been to educate the children on staying safe and making the correct choices. Nursery were visited by the Teddy Bear Hospital where they were able to take their poorly teddy to see a doctor. They also experienced some of the equipment that doctors use in a hospital. Reception are taking part in the IMPs project with Elfie Bear, which is designed to help them to spot risks and keep safe.

Next term we will be covering a topic called “Growing.” This topic will cover plants, animals and ourselves. We will be planting seeds in the planters on the playground, watching plants and animals grow, cooking with some of the fruit and vegetables that grow around us and looking at how we have grown since we were a baby. As part of this project we will be looking at baby photos. We are also planning a visit to White Post Farm for Reception. Nursery will get a visit from some of the animals at White Post Farm too.
