Start and End of the School Day
The school day starts at 8.45am, however doors open at 8:40am. Please bring your child via the main entrance to the classroom doors for F1 (Nursery) and F2 (Reception). There are two sessions for Nursery (F1) and these are: Morning 8.45am to 11.45am and Afternoon 12.15pm to 3.15pm. You are welcome to spend the first 10 minutes of the session in the Nursery with your child to help them settle.
Please collect your child from the same classroom at the end of the session or day. If your child is being collected by someone other than you please bring them into Foundation and introduce them to your child's teacher so we know who they are. In case of emergency please telephone the school and leave a message to let us know who will be collecting your child. It is school policy that no-one younger than 16 can collect children.
Target Grouping
In Phase 1 we do not have target groups. The children have all lessons in their mixed ability class. Within the class, children are grouped according to ability and learning is tailored to match their individual needs.
P.E
The children in Foundation 2 (Reception) will need to have their P.E kit (shorts, T-shirt and plimsolls all clearly labelled with name) for their lesson with the sports development team from Easter onwards. Until then, they will not need to bring any kit. After Easter, the children need to be able to change themselves, so they may need to practise at home. The days are as follows:
R1 and R2 (Mr Whale and Miss Dickens) - Tuesdays
R3 (Miss Brown) - Fridays
Reading
Each child in Reception must have a book bag. These are available to buy from the office. They will be provided with a book from school and a reading diary. All three items need to be in school every day. The reading diaries are checked on a regular basis.
We would stress that it is those children who have read regularly at home that make the most progress at school.
